The San Jose Youth Symphony’s Philharmonic Orchestra, under the artistic leadership of Music Director and Conductor Yair Samet, presents its Season Finale Concert. The San Jose Youth Symphony (SJYS) is one of the oldest and finest youth orchestras on the West Coast of the U.S. Founded over six decades ago as part of the former San Jose Symphony, SJYS has a rich tradition of musical performance and education. The mission of SJYS is to provide the youth of our culturally diverse community with exceptional orchestral music education and performance experiences that foster and encourage the study, appreciation and love of music throughout the entire community. The musicians of SJYS, all school-age youth, are chosen from more than 600 applicants through annual auditions. The SJYS comprises 11 distinct performing ensembles: two full orchestras, a Chamber orchestra, two flute choirs, two string ensembles, as well as winds, harp, saxophone, and percussion ensembles.

Halau Na Wai Ola presents Ho'ike 2017 - Na Paniolo O Ka Pakipika "Cowboys of the Pacific." Ho'ike 2017 is an outdoor event featuring a concert by Multi Na Hoku Hanohano Award Winners Kupaoa and Pomaika'i (JD Puli, Vini Joy & Friends), Hawaiian Arts and Crafts Booths, Food and Hawaiian Merchandise Vendors, Keiki (kids) Carnival games, Hawaiian Island Passport Activities, door prize drawings, and featured performance by the students of Halau Na Wai Ola and Pomaika'i Blend. Master of Ceremonies is Bruddah Derrick DeMotta.
